5 Drinks to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is upon us! Most of us will probably raise a glass or two, but it doesn’t have to be beer! Here are five drinks to try for St. Patty’s Day, from the traditional to the not-so-traditional! Sláinte!

Traditional

1. Guiness

Of course we have to mention this! But, you could also try...

2. Half and Half

Half Guiness, Half Harps

Green

I'm definitely trying this delicious sounding cocktail I found on MixThatDrink!

2 ounces vodka

1/2 ounce Midori

1/2 ounce Domaine De Canton Ginger Liqueur (but you can make your own! Here's a ginger liqueur recipe I found)

1/2 ounce lemon juice

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with crushed ice. Pour in all the ingredients and shake until chilled. Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with a lemon twist.

Low Calorie

4. Mojito

If you’re looking to count calories on St. Patrick’s Day, this 90 calorie Mojito recipe from Shape will help you do it in a healthier way.

In the bottom of a Collins or mixing glass, muddle 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon water, herbs (1 pinch fresh ginger, peeled and grated, 3 medium basil leaves, 3 mint leaves) and juice of half a lime. Pour in 1 oz. of white rum (or vodka, if you prefer) and stir. Top with crushed ice and club soda. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Whiskey based

5. The Dubliner

Here’s a whiskey shot called The Dubliner! This tasty recipe was on Delishably!

½ oz Jameson Irish Whisky

½ oz Irish Mist - a whiskey liqueur produced in Dublin

So, Sláinte and enjoy St. Patrick’s Day responsibly!
